True, full custom.
In the short term, I will continue to offer full custom builds to fill out my production orders. These ideas are limited only by your imagination, available hardware and electronics and the practical limits of construction and function. Please keep in mind that “the sky’s the limit” designs may have “the sky’s the limit” prices.
Consultation.
I provide a limited consultation process on full custom designs to protect myself from investing many hours of my time into instruments that are never built and for which I am not financially compensated.
I will provide up to two digital mockups of the requested design free of charge. While the instrument design may be much further refined after a deposit has been paid, these two mockups serve to limit my investment of time and demonstrate whehter in your eyes I will be able to deliver on what you are seeking in an instrument.
Understanding full custom prices.
Full custom work is charged a 500 CAD/USD surcharge. This is used to cover the design work and any templating or CNC programming that needs to be done. I reserve the right to increase this surcharge for exceptionally complex designs.
All options from my price lists are available on custom instruments and are generally priced the same, though this may increase for exceptionally complex designs.
The things I won’t do.
I will not build any cloned instruments of another builder or company’s model, regardless of whether it is protected by copyright or trademark. I can however, work with direction that is “similar or derived from” an existing design. In this case, the design will need to be sufficiently distinct that it can be reasonably identified as not being that design.
I won’t place any logo or insignia on an instrument to which the rights are owned by another party. Exceptions to this include the obvious logos and insignias present on some of the components I install on my instruments.
